Acoustic Wall Mosaics
FilzFelt has introduced Mosaik, an acoustic wall design developed in partnership with Artaic. This program uses automation to create sound-dampening mosaics that can be customized and assembled from any source of interest. Using Artaic's technology and expertise in mosaic manufacturing, the relationship between Artaic and FilzFelt emphasizes sustainability. This is accomplished by reusing the offcut felt that FilzFelt produces. Recycling this leftover felt allows for producing beautiful wallcoverings that are aesthetically pleasing and good at absorbing sound. Large and small mosaic patterns are made with individual square tiles about 2 inches in size. These tiles are designed to fit together without gaps, making installation effortless.
Moreover, as part of celebrating the official launch of Mosaik, FilzFelt released five designs created by Kelly Harris Smith, a designer based in Boston. Accordingly, drawing inspiration from classic textile patterns and those of German designer Anni Albers, this recently released line of acoustic wall covering designs puts a fresh spin on traditional textile design by offering a wide range of color options that may be customized to the user's preferences. With this collaboration, Kelly has reportedly worked with FilzFelt for the fifth time.

Sustainability of the Design
Two of FilzFelt's most essential values are sustainable practices and utilizing natural materials. Produced from sheep's wool, water, and plant-based textile dyes, 100% Wool Design Felt is reportedly a synthetic fabric. This makes it biodegradable and can be composted in a commercial setting. Moreover, the offcut material from FilzFelt is donated and made available for purchase on the website. FilzFelt comes from a landfill-free environment.
In the same way that FilzFelt is passionate about preserving the environment, the Artaic team has cleverly investigated a creative approach to recycling felt scraps as a new product. The result is Mosaik, a wall tile that can be customized and combines the sound-absorbing properties of pure wool felt, the centuries-old craft of mosaics, and the cutting-edge technology behind Artaic. Mosaik is constructed from felt that has been left over from the production of building products.
