Grand Reading Room and Drift on Pine Projects

Larson-Danielson Construction, a main contractor, administered the remodeling of the Beth and Lou Holtz Family Grand Reading Room.  The interior category of the Excellence in Construction Awards was awarded to the Grand Reading Room, which is located in the Hesburgh Library at the University of Notre Dame.

To foster focused intellectual pursuits and collaborative work, the space that has been remodeled has been transformed into one that is not only useful but also inspiring. There are approximately 250 table chairs available for private study and seating around an enclosed fireplace in the room that spans 20,000 square feet and is two stories tall. By connecting the first and second levels with a brand-new stairwell, accessibility, and flow have been significantly improved.

The Grand Reading Room's exposure to natural light, which is abundant throughout the space, produces a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The lovely atmosphere is further enhanced by installing one hundred pendant lights in the new atrium. The walls of windows also provide a panoramic view of the west campus, which includes the dome of the main building and the Basilica spire, among other landmarks.

Moreover, aside from showcasing the company's experience in structural contracting, Drift on Pine was given one of the build awards in the construction category. They collaborated with Facet Architecture, an architectural firm, to create the 8,000-square-foot restaurant.

One of the most exciting new additions to La Porte, Indiana, is this three-story restaurant and bar. In addition to providing a one-of-a-kind dining experience, Drift on Pine also features flexible rooms that can accommodate a wide range of events.

As mentioned, the restaurant's family dining sections create a warm and inviting ambiance for gatherings. In addition, a sizable patio with a warm fire pit is ideal for evenings when the temperature is low. An outstanding view of Pine Lake may reportedly  be found from two spectacular rooftop locations and three separate bars. Nevertheless, each bar possesses its own unique allure.
