Nowadays, the employment of robots in the construction of homes is becoming increasingly common due to their perceived safety and cost efficiency. This exceptional construction does not have any dust blowing around the area; it also creates the home layer by layer. Thus, the first-ever residence in Space Coast to be built using 3D printing technology is now under construction.

Space Coast's First-Ever 3D-Printed Home

With more homes already being built, the first 3D-printed home on the Space Coast is currently being constructed on Eau Gallie Boulevard near Wickham Road. From the beginning to the end of the construction process, the home will take approximately three months to complete, and contractors are already collaborating with Habitat for Humanity on the Space Coast to develop inexpensive new homes. Trevor Ragno, a director of Apis Cor, estimates that the home with four bedrooms and four bathrooms will cost approximately $300,000 once it is done.

Moreover, unlike any other job site, the noise level of the construction of this kind of house was reportedly low. The home is being constructed by a small workforce utilizing cutting-edge, newly developed robots. A group of machines is building the walls of a brand-new 2,100-square-foot residence layer by layer.

While humans provide very minimal assistance, robots collaborate to prepare the concrete and distribute the finished product. Therefore, Apis Cor firmly believes that 3D printing represents the future. According to Josh McCarthy, the general contractor on the project, although 3D-printed homes adhere to the same building regulations as conventional structures, they are less hazardous for construction crews.

3D Printed Houses Advantage Over Traditional Homes

Using advanced technology, the 3D-printed houses industry is an emerging approach to built-in housing construction that can plan to eliminate carbon from the construction sector. Building three-dimensional items using this technology involves automated robotics to add layer upon layer of material. This technology can cut the costs of production and boost the overall efficiency of home building. 

Based on a study, a growing amount of money is being invested in environmentally responsible building design innovation. Over 140 million dollars have reportedly been invested in innovators developing 3D-printed buildings in the past two years. These innovators have received significant funding from venture capital, corporate, and prop-tech investors.  

Moreover, the revolutionary alternative to conventional building practices offered by 3D printing in the construction industry enables higher cost-effectiveness and productivity. By replacing the need for labor and materials that are expensive to execute, 3D-printed houses can be constructed at a cost up to 45% lower than those made using traditional methods, as stated in a recent article published by the World Economic Forum.

Houses manufactured using 3D printing require less material and labor, and the builder can expect fewer labor expenditures because the printing process is automated. Additionally, 3D-printed buildings are constructed using fewer materials that can be acquired locally, which means that the construction process requires less time and effort. This has the potential to bring about a considerable reduction in the overall cost of the house. In light of this, the construction of homes using 3D printing is far more cost-effective than the conventional method of building, resulting in considerable time and financial savings.
